Manager's check / 01 of 04List systems

Point of sale, payments, stock, customer tools and reports

A system is not ready just because the equipment has arrived. The people who will use it need approved access, a tested routine and a clear route for help. Store managers coordinate the operational checks; technical owners confirm configuration, connectivity and acceptance.

List the systems the approved store model depends on, such as point of sale, payment terminals, stock tools, customer systems and reporting. Confirm a named technical or vendor owner for each and identify which store roles need access. Use the company's account and security process; never share personal logins or passwords.

Agree practical test scenarios with the system owner. These might include an approved training sale, stock lookup, receipt, or another routine the store is expected to perform. Use the provided test environment or method and follow instructions for payment, refunds, customer data and financial controls. Do not use live customer records or run real transactions for practice unless the authorized process explicitly requires it.

Schedule practice for each shift and include a capable trainer or support contact. Check that colleagues know where to get help and what approved contingency applies if a system is unavailable. Record failed tests as issues with an owner, effect, due date and retest evidence.

Before handover, ask the technical owner to confirm the required tests and access are complete. The manager can then check that the team can perform its assigned routines and knows the support route. Escalate any unresolved system gap that could prevent safe or accurate trading.
