Run sheet, roles, cover, appointments and contacts

Opening day compresses project handover, team coordination and customer service into one visible shift. A simple run sheet helps the manager stay ahead of the sequence while keeping the team focused on customers and the store's approved operating routines.

Before doors open, confirm the shift lead, key role owners, break cover, appointments, deliveries and the agreed support contacts. Brief the team on the day's priorities, the check-in times and how to raise an urgent issue. Keep the opening checklist and escalation route easy for the shift leads to find.

During trade, use short check-ins to review customer flow, role cover, system status, stock gaps and open issues. Give each issue a priority, owner and next update. Follow the approved emergency and security procedures immediately if people or property may be at risk; do not wait for a routine project meeting.

Communicate clearly when a plan changes. Tell the affected colleagues what to do, what is known, what is being checked and when they will hear more. Keep customer messages accurate and within the authority given to the store team. Escalate technical, property, staffing or commercial decisions to the owner who can approve them.

At close, review what happened against the run sheet. Record unresolved issues, customer commitments, next-day actions and the person who owns each follow-up. Share the factual update with project leadership and the next shift so the second trading day starts with a usable picture.
